Abstract: With the continuous breakthroughs and development in transportation technology， transportation modernization has increasingly become a key driving force for promoting the process of Chinese style modernization. Utilizing panel data from 30 provinces spanning the years 2014 to 2022 as our research samples， this paper empirically examines the relationship between transportation modernization and Chinese style modernization. The analysis is conducted by measuring the respective levels of both concepts and employing various models. The results show that transportation modernization can significantly enhance the level of Chinese style modernization， and the conclusion remains valid after robustness tests. In terms of mechanisms， innovation capability and industrial structure upgrading are two important channels for transportation modernization to empower Chinese style modernization. In terms of regional heterogeneity， the positive impact of transportation modernization on the level of Chinese style modernization is stronger in the eastern region compared with the central and western regions. Furthermore， the analysis of spatial spillover effects reveals that transportation modernization not only enhances the modernization level within a given region but also significantly contributes to the modernization of neighboring areas.

摘要： 随着交通技术的不断突破与发展，交通现代化日渐成为推动中国式现代化进程的关键驱动力。以2014—2022年30个省份的面板数据为研究样本，在测度交通现代化与中国式现代化水平的基础上，运用多种计量模型实证检验两者的关系。交通现代化能够显著提升中国式现代化水平，在稳健性检验后该结论依然成立；就作用机制而言，创新能力、产业结构升级是交通现代化赋能中国式现代化水平的两个重要渠道；在区域异质性上，东部地区交通现代化对中国式现代化水平的积极效应强于中部和西部地区；空间溢出结果分析表明，交通现代化不仅会促进本地区现代化水平提升，也会对周边地区现代化水平提升产生显著的促进作用。
