A CorpusBased Discourse Analysis of Reports on COVID19 Epidemic in China in the New York Times GE Houwei    2020, 20 (6): 108-116.   Abstract （2368）      PDF （1279KB）（3855）       Knowledge map    Save This paper extracts the New York Times reports on COVID19 epidemic in China from the Lexis Nexis database, and builds News Corpus of COVID19 epidemic in China. Through the analysis of subject words, collocation and retrieval lines, this paper reveals the discourse representation of the New York Times reports on the epidemic situation in China and the ideology reflected by these representations. The study finds that the New York Times shows great concern about COVID19 epidemic in China, and reports on it in a timely, continuous and multifaceted manner, focusing on the epidemic itself and its impact, but it still holds a biased and negative attitude towards the Chinese government and makes groundless accusations. The grain mainly came from “purchase”,mostly for military and pensionary use, but gradually for royal family, temple use, deviating from the original purpose of “supporting the army and guarding against flood and drought”. The establishment of Feng storage warehouse not only brought inconvenience to the national financial management, but also increased the burden of the people. Among them，Helen Waddell draws far less attention from the Chinese lyrics，which is one of few earlier metrical versions of Shijing. This article introduces the poettranslator Waddell and her main works，then analyzes the characteristics of themes of selected poems，poetic form，and adaptation in contents. It concludes that the themes of materials focus on love and marriage，political concerns，and banquet. Feminism singles out in the translated notes. The arrangement of lines and stanzas complies more with the norms of English poetry. In the end，the impacts of the poetic background are examined on her personalized translations. Under the macro layout policy of “relying on mountains, spreading and concealment”, the heavy industry in Chongqing area during the thirdline construction was distributed along the Yangtze river with five main urban areas such as Shapingba, Yuzhong, Nanan, Jiangbei and Jiulongpo as the centers, forming three distribution areas, that is the northwest Chongqing, the central of Chongqing and the southeast of Chongqing. The layout of thirdline construction enterprises were too centralized and scattered. The distribution of thirdline construction enterprises changed the industrial layout of Chongqing, making the gravity of industrial development in Chongqing expand from the main urban areas to Jiangjin, Nanchuan, Qijiang, Yongchuan, Changshou and other places along the river gradually. At the same time, the distribution of thirdline construction enterprises made the core area and the radiating circle of urban development of Chongqing expand from the main urban area to other places along the Yangtze river and equalize the regional structure of urban system of Chongqing by promoting the rise of a number of industrial towns such as Beibei, Changshou, Fuling, Xipeng and other places. The study found that the number of complaints increased year by year, but the complaint rates increased faster, especially in Xinjiang, northeast and southwest China. And complaints mainly focus on security checks, checkin, shopping and catering services. Based on the results, this paper suggests to pay attention to the difference of complaint quantity and adopt the local characteristic service mode according to the actual situation of the region, pay attention to the content of hot complaints and do a good job in control and feedback, give full play to the strengths of employees and provide personalized, differentiated and customized services for passengers.
