Abstract: “The Arrow and the Song” is one of Longfellows famous poems. For the understanding of this poem, the key point is to clarify the symbolic meanings of “arrow” and “song”. “Arrow” actually symbolizes “evil”; “song” symbolizes “kindness”. Only in this way can we understand the poets morality, appreciate the beauty of this poem, and have perfect translation.
