Abstract: From the point of cognitive languages view, metaphor plays a crucial role in mapping concepts, especially abstract concepts. In Britain, “Forsyte” is just a kind of surname. In The Man of Property, there are lots of conceptual metaphors. Conceptual metaphors about “Forsyte” in The Man of Property is analyzed with the help of conceptual metaphor theory of cognitive language. It is found that there are three kinds of conceptual metaphor on “Forsyte”: “Forsyte is a plant”, “Forsyte is a soldier” and “Forsyte is an owner who has decent things”; Futhermore, the personifications of Forsyte family is also dug out.

摘要： 认知语言学认为隐喻对概念尤其是抽象概念的建构起着至关重要的作用。在英国，“福尔赛”仅指一种姓氏，然而在《有产业的人》中，它饱含概念隐喻。本文借助认知语言学的概念隐喻理论探讨文本中关于“福尔赛”的隐喻。研究发现高尔斯华绥笔下的“福尔赛”主要蕴含三大概念隐喻：福尔赛是植物，福尔赛是战士，福尔赛是高大上物品的拥有者；进一步分析发现“福尔赛”的共同特征。
