Abstract: The Joy Luck Club is the most successful masterpiece of Chinese American writer Amy Tan. One of the chapters, “Two Kinds”, has been selected into the textbook for juniors of English majors, bringing about a variety of ways to interpret it. Based upon the foregrounding theory, a microscopic analysis on the lexical, syntactic, and semantic level is made to explore the correlation between the works linguistic and stylistic features and its thematic value.

摘要： 《喜福会》是华裔作家谭恩美最成功的代表作，其中一个章节《另类》已被选入本科英语专业高年级教材，产生了多种多样的解读方式。本文运用前景化理论对《另类》进行词汇层面、句法层面、语义层面的微观分析，探讨作品的语言文体特征与作品的主题意义之间的关联。
