Abstract: George Lamming is one of the most influential CaribbeanBritish immigrant writers, and enjoys a high reputation in the international literature for his detailed description of Caribbeans colonial history and culture. Lammings works are difficult and complex and have a wide range of themes, which brings many interpretations and studies from critics. Many perspectives can be applied to the study of Lamming such as history nihility, identity loss, language loss, political hegemony, racial segregation, and postcolonial criticism. Compared with that abroad, the study of Lamming at home is still in the initial stage.

摘要： 乔治·拉明是当今影响力最大的加勒比裔英国移民作家之一，因对加勒比地区的殖民历史和文化的细致描绘而在国际文坛上享有盛名。其作品复杂难懂，主题多样，由此引发了国外学界的广泛解读与研究，尤其是从历史虚无、身份迷失、语言丧失、政治霸权、种族隔离以及后殖民主义批评等视角进行分析和评论。与国外相比，国内对拉明的研究尚属起始阶段。
