Abstract: Metadicourse is an important method to signal the stance of a writer and build the interaction between the writer and the reader. 100 Chinese and English news reports, relating to politics and economy respectively, are chosen to analyze the usage of metadiscourse in different cultures and contents. The result of the comparative study is that a rather large number of metadiscourses is used in the news reports. In English news reports, the number of metadiscourses is higher than that in Chinese news reports. From the perspective of subcategory of metadiscourse, there are many significant differences between English and Chinese news reports, and the differences are similar in political and economic reports.

摘要： 〖JP2〗元话语是突出作者立场、构建作者与读者关系的重要手段。本文选取英汉政治类和经济类新闻报道共100篇，比较不同语言、不同主题的新闻报道使用元话语的情况。结果发现，尽管新闻报道以客观性为主要原则，但是在语篇中还是出现了数量不少的元话语。此外，英语新闻报道无论内容还是使用的元话语总数均多于汉语新闻报道。从元话语的子类别来看，英汉语篇在多个子类别中存在显著区别，这些区别在不同主题的新闻报道中表现大致相同。〖JP〗
