Coetzee, a diaspora writer of multicultural identity, discloses the endless suffering and disaster resulting from Apartheid in South Africa by means of his transcendental otherness perspective. In Age of Iron, Coetzee, from the same perspective, subverts the binary opposition between the self and the other constructed by colonialism and makes use of Mrs. Curren to narrate the predicament of both the white and the black after they are dislocated at the end of the Apartheid. Finally Coetzee expresses his humanitarian concern for justice and peace through the silent rebirth of Mrs. Curren. 〖WTHZ〗Key words:J. M.
