A Discourse Analysis Toward the Reported Speech in New York Times --With the News Reports on Capsized Ship “Oriental Star”

《纽约时报》灾难报道中引述话语分析 ——以“东方之星”客轮沉没事件为例

Abstract: Reported speech is employed to reveal medias objectivity and unbiased judgment in news writing. The features of reported speech are detected from the following three aspects: the ways of reported speech, the usage of reporting verbs, the information sources. The news reports about the capsized ship “Oriental Star” published on New York Times were analyzed. The results disclose that the most frequent reported speech is indirect speech. The reported clauses are constantly introduced by neutral reporting verbs.New York Times cites the ideas of four information givers: government, general public, elites, relevant cooperation.

摘要: 新闻媒体为了建立客观、无偏见的公众形象,在报道中通常使用大量引述话语。以《纽约时报》“东方之星”客轮沉没事件的报道为分析对象,探究其在引述方式、引述动词和消息来源三个方面的特点。结果显示,相对于其它几种引述形式,间接引述出现频率高;引述动词以中性言语行为动词居多;消息来源多样化,涵盖政府、民众、知识精英和相关企业。
