Abstract: The paper reviews Explain Me This:Creativity, Competition, and the Partial Productivity of Constructions by Goldberg, which symbolizes that Goldbergs constructional view has gradually matured from the initial theoretical creation to the description of the essential features of language and then to the application of the theory. Furthermore, in this work, the constraints of the productivity of construction are discussed by invoking the concepts of psycholinguistics and statistics:coverage and statistical preemption, which also provide a new perspective for the integration of linguistic research and other disciplines to jointly explain the ontology of language. At the same time, the paper provides appropriate solutions to the difficulties and challenges encountered by adult second language learners in the process of learning a foreign language, which further highlights the explanatory power of construction grammar.

摘要: Goldberg的第三部著作《Explain Me This:Creativity, Competition, and the Partial Productivity of Constructions》的发行,标志着她的构式观从最初的理论创建到对语言本质特征的描写,再到理论的应用,逐步走向成熟。该著作对构式能产性限制因素的探讨援引了心理语言学与统计学的概念,覆盖面和统计先占为语言学研究与其他学科的融合,共同解释语言本体提供了新的视角。同时,该著作为成人二语学习者在学习外语过程中遇到的困难与挑战给予恰当的解决思路,进一步突显构式语法的解释力。
