Abstract: Based on the foreign language digital narrative competence frameworks, this study constructs an evaluation system for international communication capacity via short videos, encompassing four dimensions: narrative content, audiovisual presentation, foreign language proficiency, and crosscultural awareness. Using a sample of 39 English short videos on the “Two Roads” spirit created by students at Chongqing Jiaotong University, the research analyzes the current state of Jiaotong university students’ ability to communicate this spirit internationally through short videos. The findings reveal notable shortcomings in narrative depth, foreign language accuracy, and crosscultural adaptability. Accordingly, strategies are proposed to optimize narrative content, innovate audiovisual presentation, refine foreign language expression, and enhance crosscultural awareness, thereby improving the efficacy of international communication of the “Two Roads” spirit through short videos.
