Abstract: Dionne Brand is one of the most influential contemporary Caribbean African immigrant female writers. She gains domestic and international attention for her careful description of the colonial slavery history and racial diaspora in Middle Passage. The complexity and variety of Brands writings in theme and technique have presented the multiplicity of criticism of Brand abroad, especially analysis and comments from the perspective of postcolonial feminism, racial and cultural trauma, diaspora, verbal narrative, comparative and so on. The domestic research on Brand is still in the initial stage. A detailed review of studies on Brand abroad and at home as well as a prospect for its future is conducted.
