Abstract: Taking Hallidays systemicfunctional grammar as a starting point, a comparative analysis is made on the interpersonal meaning of the passive voice in English and Chinese social disaster news texts, which is an innovation on the passive voice research fields. Two main problems are solved:(1) the frequency and distribution of the passive voice in English and Chinese social disaster news texts and (2) the similarities and differences on the interpersonal meaning of the passive voice in English and Chinese news texts.

摘要： 以韩礼德的系统功能语法作为理论出发点，对比分析英汉社会灾难新闻语篇中被动语态的人际意义，试图解决两个主要问题：英汉社会灾难新闻语篇中被动语态出现的频率及分布，英汉新闻语篇中被动语态人际意义的相似性和差异性。
