Abstract: The reception of WANG Changlings poetry can be divided into two stages: the flourishing period of Tang Dynasty as well as the middle and late period of Tang Dynasty. Concerning the number of excerpts in the poetry anthology, Changling, when compared with his contemporaries, is listed in the upper middle of the column. Judging from the contents of the selected poems, the flourishing period of Tang Dynasty was featured with the works of “strength and delicateness”, and Changlings poems were good representatives of such character: “steep sound”, “elegance” and “integrity”. The late Tang Dynasty was featured with clear and elegant poems. Among Changlings poems, the pieces imbued with the breath of the flourishing period of Tang Dynasty were most widely accepted by the public. However, entering the late Tang Dynasty, with dramatic changes in the political environment and mentalities of people, Changlings poetry lost its popularity and was shelved and neglected.
